Whatever stage you are at on your journey, whether you are gender variant yourself or are supporting someone who is, we believe that having a counsellor or therapist ‘in your pocket’ can be incredibly empowering. Our network of therapists are specifically trained in working with gender variant people of all ages, to help them on their journey, at whatever stage they might be.
We understand that, for some, being gender variant can feel lonely but, rest-assured, you are not alone. The GenderGP community is a safe place where you can read about other people in similar situations and interact and share your opinions on social media (you can find us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook @GenderGP). Follow us or ask us to follow you, and join our network of advocates and supporters.
It is widely acknowledged that before ‘coming out’, gender variant people go through a process of ‘coming in’. This involves consuming as much information as possible to help them to better understand their situation and the options ahead. Our website is an excellent resource to help with your research. You will find access to questions and answers, important resources, the latest news, our blog – which is regularly updated – as well as the GenderGP podcast and more. Explore our resources in more depth.
If you need medical advice regarding hormones, blockers, transitioning, blood tests, self-medication, surgical referrals or any aspect of your trans-related healthcare, get in touch. This is a safe space. We are starting from a position where we believe people when they say they are questioning their gender.
We acknowledge that trans children, young people and adults exist, we agree with appropriate social transition and timely medical intervention.
This is not an opportunity for discussion about whether people can be gender variant, this is a discussion about how best to support them and those who care for them. If your questions or comments challenge the existence of gender incongruence in children and young people, and their rights, then you will be removed.
We have a zero tolerance approach towards bullying, degrading or belittling behaviour, transphobia, homophobia, sexism, racism or trolling of any kind, casual or other. If we feel you are breaching our house rules our moderators will take action.
