Dear Dr Hayes,

It is with sadness that I read that you have faced difficulties with the Australian Medical Council. Here in the UK, there is also a deep misunderstanding of the needs of transgender patients, and the lives that can be truly touched and saved by providing safe and timely, compassionate, gender-affirmative care.

I too have faced restrictions on my practice for helping transgender patients, and I no longer am able to directly provide them medical care. However, my firm strength and resolve means that this organisation that I set up to provide care to patients who are unable to get it locally, remains strong and able to provide care worldwide.

I know that there is very little professional support available to doctors who are under investigation, or who have restrictions on their license. If I can be of any support to you at this difficult time, then please reach out. I read with interest your comments about the strong support that you are receiving from the trans community, they are truly an amazing group to have the privilege to work with!

If you would like GenderGP, and its robust programme that uses telemedicine to reach into far corners of the globe, to care for your patients either in the interim or long term, then please do let us know.

Thinking of you in this difficult time, I know how it feels!

Dr Helen Webberley,

Proud Doctor and Transgender Advocate.
